Consumers benefited from axing Auckland fuel tax, study finds

Despite criticism petrol companies are quick to raise prices and slow to drop them, savings from axing the Auckland Regional Fuel Tax have been passed onto consumers, the Commerce Commission says.
The 11.5c per litre fuel tax, intended to generate funds for Auckland’s infrastructure needs, was scrapped by the Government on June 30 as a cost of living measure.
